Google has added 6-second video previews to its mobile search results. The new update would let searches in Android Google app or Chrome to show a short preview of each video.
Previously, the text snippets gave you a preview of what you can expect if you click on that links. Now what you will see is not just random or first 6 seconds of video. Google uses machine learning technology which indicated and selects which are the best six seconds in order to represent it.
But not all videos will have that preview yet. For the recent times it will be only videos in English language, but it is expected to extend this feature to other languages. Also it can be shown up on Wi-Fi by default and users can opt-out of them in the settings, in case they do not want to consume mobile data.
“Any video on the web is eligible for inclusion, though Google may not have a preview for some of the newest videos available yet because it takes the servers a bit of time to build the previews”, commented Emily Moxley, Google’s Director of Product Management for this new project.
