Google is closing the program First Click Free which gave users access to paid materials of publications when they first go to the page from the search results. This decision was made in order to help the media increase its incomes from subscriptions.
But if publishers want they still have possibility to provide users First Click Free. In case of their refusal to do it there will not be decrease in their position of Google search results.
The FCF program was launched in 2007. Its goal was to allow users to see what content is available for a fee, and therefore encourage them to subscribe.
