Designs of the Year 2017

The Design Museum in London has announced the nominees of Designs of the Year prize. These designs strongly show a theme for politically-minded projects. In the short list you can see Wolfgang Tillmans “Remain campaign” (ahead of the Brexit vote), the Me & EU, Michael Oswell’s support posters for Jeremy Corbyn (ahead of the UK election) and the Pussyhat which worn on the Women’s March against Donald Trump.
In the Graphics category it includes the “Refugee Nation Olympic flag” by Yara Said for Amnesty International, and “Finding Her” an illustrated campaign by IC4 Design for UN Women in Egypt. The last one aimed at highlighting the lack of women in Egyptian politics, science and tech industries.
For the Fashion category is nominated “The Nike Pro Hijab”, Google and Levi’s Commuter Trucker Jacket with Jacquard – the brands’ patented interactive textile – and Kanye West’s Life of Pablo merchandise and pop-up stores. The “Pokemon Go” was nominated for the Digital award.
Designs of the Year 2017 shortlist will be exhibited at the Design Museum in London from 18 October 2017 – 28 January 2018.
