Nowadays humanity cannot imagine its daily life without searching on the Internet. But if we will ask you which search engines do you use? Most of people would say: Google, Google and, maybe, Google. If you are Russian Internet user your answers will be: Yandex, Yandex and, probably, Yandex. For Chinese users the response will be the same with Baidu Search.

But did not you think that if something is the most popular it does not mean that it is the best? The same is with search engines. Maybe the Google Search is so familiar and routine for us because its monopoly closes ways for other search engines? 1. Duck Duck Go 

The search engine which does not collect and distribute any personal information. It does not store search history or retain users’ data so there is nothing to sell for advertisers, who are following us through the whole Internet. Duck Duck Go does not watch us if we have switched on or switched off private mode of the browser. Is not it a fairytale for safe searching on the Internet with maximum privacy and confidentiality?

Also Duck Duck Go does not use “filter bubble”, which means that you will get all necessary information without cutting results for your personal preferences. For instance, Google and Yandex are using “filter bubble” – their searching engines provide you information which they think you need (of course, without asking you about it).

2. Bing 

If you are still fan of the Google Search, but you are looking for something new and unfamiliar – you will like Microsoft’s search engine Bing. Some researchers say that Bing has better video search than Google’s – you can play or preview them by clicking on their thumbnails. Other says that it has more autocomplete suggestions than the “king” of search engines. Also Bing powers Yahoo! Search and provides for it majority of searchers. Anyway you would definitely cheer up and feel better after looking at outstanding photos in Bing’s starting page.

3. Webopedia 

If you are searching for something special in IT sphere - the Webopedia Search will be the best assistant for you. It is an online dictionary for IT scholars or students. All data in Webopedia is related to computing and information technologies. Also Webopedia’s team describes their goal as “easy-to-understand definitions, avoiding the use of heavy jargon when possible”. So it is also available for users with a few computer skills.

4. Google Scholar 

Okay, we could not just miss Google and not to mention it at all. But we included in our range a different and specific search - the Google Scholar.
